Underage Age Rage - Esports

So yesterday I read an article on Lazygamer where they reported on a Call Of Duty LAN that was hosted by MWeb GameZone this past weekend. The significance of it was that it got some time on the news and so has made eSports just that little more visible in South Africa, with the news spot even stating that there is a possibility or at least a push for gaming to be recognised in schools as a sport where kids could even get colors for their blazers.

This is great but it brought about an interesting topic in the comments section about underage players according to the game's age restrictions. This is what I want to tackle a bit today.

The curse of always-online

The internet. A wondrous tool. One that allows people to connect with each other from all over the world. It has opened up avenues in gaming that were previously restricted to garage LAN parties.

But it has lead to something that no one expected, well, not initially anyway. Always on DRM. Cleverly hidden behind the excuse of "social integration"

Microtransactions - The end of an era

Sure, track and car sold separately. Seems legit

Micro-transactions, love them or hate them, they surely are a hot topic at the moment. With the likes of AAA games such as Diablo III and DeadSpace3 going the route of the microtransaction, it really brings to mind  a question… Is this the end of an age? Are we, the older generation gamers, becoming a dying breed?
